BookCats

BookCats is a club dedicated to promoting a love of reading to all age groups. The club reads children's literature and discusses ways to use these books in classrooms. BookCats is a great place for future teachers to begin growing their future libraries

Council for Exceptional Children

“The Council for Exceptional Children is an international community of professionals who are the voice and vision of special and gifted education. CEC's mission is to improve, through excellence and advocacy, the education and quality of life for children and youth with exceptionalities and to enhance engagement of their families.”

The organization works primarily with the adults and students with disabilities in the area in a classroom while advocating to the community about their importance in society.

K.I.D.S. (Kind Individuals Dedicated to Students)

This organization is open to all Northwest students who are interested in spending time with elementary-school-aged children. This group meets monthly and provides an evening of games, crafts, and snacks for elementary children and their Northwest "buddies."

Education Around the World

The purpose of this organization is to provide fellowship for students dedicated to enriching learning experiences and opportunities for quality learning and promote a diverse educational experience through international studies. Study Abroad experiences and learning about education around the world will be explored in this organization. Education majors and students from other majors are invited to participate in zoom sessions from around the world.

Regional and State Organizations

S.M.S.T.A. (Student Missouri State Teachers' Association)

SMSTA is a pre-professional organization devoted to supporting future educators at the college level. The purpose of this organization is to provide its members with opportunities to grow professionally, develop leadership skills, understand the ethics of teaching, and participate in professional and union activities at the local and state levels.
